Description

MRI DEFECOGRAM is a specialized dynamic imaging study that evaluates the function of the pelvic floor muscles and rectum during the process of defecation. This procedure provides real-time images of the pelvic organs as the patient attempts to evacuate a special contrast gel. It’s particularly valuable for diagnosing and assessing pelvic floor disorders, including rectocele, rectal prolapse, and pelvic organ prolapse. The dynamic nature of this study allows physicians to observe functional abnormalities that may not be apparent on static images, helping to guide appropriate treatments for patients with chronic constipation, fecal incontinence, or other defecation disorders.
