Description
The Glucose Challenge Test 2nd Hour is an extended version of the standard Glucose Challenge Test. In this test, a second blood sample is taken two hours after consuming the glucose solution, in addition to the one-hour sample. This provides a more comprehensive picture of how the body processes glucose over time. The two-hour measurement can be particularly useful in cases where the one-hour result is borderline or inconclusive. It offers additional data points to assess glucose tolerance and can help in more accurately identifying individuals who may be at risk for gestational diabetes or other glucose metabolism disorders. This extended test may be recommended for women with certain risk factors or when healthcare providers want a more detailed assessment of glucose tolerance.
