Description
The Gliadin IgG Antibody test is a complementary test to the Gliadin IgA Antibody test, used in the diagnosis and monitoring of celiac disease and non-celiac gluten sensitivity. It measures the level of IgG antibodies produced against gliadin, a protein component of gluten. This test is particularly valuable in cases where a patient might have an IgA deficiency, which can lead to false-negative results in IgA-based tests. Elevated levels of Gliadin IgG antibodies can indicate an immune reaction to gluten, but are less specific for celiac disease than IgA antibodies. This test is often used in combination with other celiac-specific tests and clinical assessments for a comprehensive evaluation. It can also be useful in monitoring dietary compliance in diagnosed patients.
