Description
The Epstein-Barr Virus IgG Antibody (VCA) test detects antibodies indicating past infection with the Epstein-Barr virus. It specifically targets the viral capsid antigen (VCA). Positive results suggest long-term immunity to EBV and are common in adults. This test helps diagnose various EBV-related conditions, including infectious mononucleosis, and can differentiate between recent and past infections when used in conjunction with other EBV antibody tests.
