Description
The DHEA-S test measures the sulfated form of DHEA in the blood. This form is more stable and abundant than DHEA itself, making it a reliable indicator of adrenal gland function. The test is used to help diagnose adrenal disorders, evaluate early or late onset puberty, and assess causes of excess male hormones in women. It’s also useful in the workup of infertility and certain cancers.
