Description
The D-Dimer test measures the presence of blood clot breakdown products in the blood. It’s primarily used to help diagnose conditions related to abnormal blood clotting, such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism (PE). A negative result can help rule out these conditions, while a positive result may indicate the need for further testing. It’s also useful in monitoring the effectiveness of anticoagulant therapy.
