Description
The Cardiolipin IgA Antibody test is a blood test that detects the presence of immunoglobulin A (IgA) antibodies against cardiolipin, a type of phospholipid found in cell membranes. This test is part of the antiphospholipid antibody panel and is used to diagnose antiphospholipid syndrome and other autoimmune disorders. The presence of these antibodies can indicate an increased risk of blood clots, recurrent miscarriages, and other complications. While less common than IgG and IgM antibodies, IgA anticardiolipin antibodies can be significant in some patients and may provide additional diagnostic information in certain clinical scenarios.
