Description
The Bleeding Time and Clotting Time tests are fundamental assessments of hemostasis, the body’s ability to control bleeding. Bleeding Time (BT) involves making a small, standardized cut and measuring how long it takes for bleeding to stop, which evaluates platelet function and blood vessel integrity. Clotting Time (CT) measures how long it takes for a blood sample to clot in vitro, assessing the intrinsic coagulation pathway. Together, these tests help diagnose bleeding disorders, evaluate the risk of excessive bleeding during surgery, and monitor certain medications.
