Description
The Aspergillosis IGM test measures immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibodies produced in response to recent or acute Aspergillus fungi infection. IgM antibodies are typically the first to appear in the immune response to an infection. This test is useful in identifying recent or acute aspergillosis, particularly in immunocompromised patients. Elevated levels of Aspergillus-specific IgM can indicate a current or very recent infection. The test is often used in conjunction with IgG testing to differentiate between acute and chronic infections. It’s particularly valuable in diagnosing invasive aspergillosis, a severe form of infection that can rapidly progress in immunocompromised individuals.
