Description
The Aspergillosis IGE test is a specific blood test that detects immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies produced in response to Aspergillus fungi. This test is primarily used to diagnose allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA), a condition where an allergic response to Aspergillus causes inflammation in the lungs. ABPA often occurs in patients with asthma or cystic fibrosis. Elevated levels of Aspergillus-specific IgE indicate an allergic response to the fungus. This test, combined with clinical symptoms and other diagnostic criteria, helps in the diagnosis and management of ABPA and other Aspergillus-related allergic conditions.
