Description
The Apolipoprotein – A1 & B test is a comprehensive blood test that measures both apolipoprotein A1 and apolipoprotein B levels. Apolipoprotein A1 is associated with HDL (good) cholesterol, while apolipoprotein B is the main protein in LDL (bad) cholesterol and other atherogenic particles. This combined test provides a more accurate assessment of cardiovascular risk than traditional lipid profiles. The ratio of apoB to apoA1 is considered a strong predictor of heart disease risk. This test is particularly valuable in assessing risk in patients with a family history of premature cardiovascular disease or those with other risk factors.
