Description
The Apolipoprotein – A1 test measures the levels of apolipoprotein A1, the main protein component of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, often referred to as “good” cholesterol. This protein plays a crucial role in removing excess cholesterol from tissues and transporting it to the liver for excretion. Higher levels of apolipoprotein A1 are generally associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease. This test provides a more detailed assessment of cardiovascular risk than standard lipid profiles and can be particularly useful in evaluating patients with a family history of heart disease or those with abnormal cholesterol levels.
