Description

This test measures the amount of copper excreted in urine over a 24-hour period. It’s primarily used to diagnose Wilson’s disease, a rare genetic disorder that causes copper to accumulate in vital organs. The test is also useful for identifying other copper metabolism disorders and monitoring the effectiveness of chelation therapy. Elevated copper levels in urine may indicate excessive copper intake or impaired copper excretion.
