Description
The Cardiolipin IgG Antibody test measures the levels of immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies against cardiolipin in the blood. This test is crucial in diagnosing antiphospholipid syndrome, an autoimmune disorder associated with an increased risk of blood clots and pregnancy complications. IgG anticardiolipin antibodies are the most common and clinically significant of the anticardiolipin antibodies. Their presence can indicate a higher risk of thrombosis, recurrent miscarriages, and other vascular events. This test is often performed alongside other antiphospholipid antibody tests for a comprehensive evaluation. Persistent elevation of these antibodies is typically required for diagnosis.
