Description

The CA (Cyfra) 21-1 Serum test measures the level of Cytokeratin 19 fragments in the blood. Cytokeratin 19 is a protein found in epithelial cells, and its fragments can be detected in higher levels when certain types of cancer are present. This test is primarily used as a tumor marker for non-small cell lung cancer, but it can also be elevated in other cancers such as head and neck, bladder, and cervical cancer.
