Description
The CA-125 (Cancer Antigen 125) test measures the level of the CA-125 protein in the blood. This protein is often elevated in women with ovarian cancer, making it a useful tumor marker. While primarily used to monitor the effectiveness of ovarian cancer treatment and detect cancer recurrence, it’s important to note that CA-125 can be elevated in other conditions as well. This test may also be used in combination with other tests to help diagnose ovarian cancer, but it’s not recommended as a standalone screening test for the general population.
